Polymerisation

SE Tylose offers a wide range of products, specially designed for use in emulsion and suspension polymerisation processes.

Polymerisation

Tylose® is used in suspension and emulsion polymerisation processes as highly effective protective colloid. It influences important properties of the resulting polymer, such as particle size and porosity.

Filter applications by:

    Emulsion polymerisation

Emulsion polymerisation is widely used for ethylene derived unsaturated compounds used to produce aqueous polymer emulsions. The resulting polymers are polyacrylates or polyvinyl acetates combined with a large number of different co-monomers.

    Suspension polymerisation

Suspension polymerisation is widely used in the production of polyvinyl chloride and expandable polystyrene in large scale. Tylose® acts as protective colloid, stabilising the suspension during the process and adjusting the particle size distribution and porosity of the resulting polymer particles.

Tylose improves important characteristics of polymers produced in emulsion and suspension polymerisation, in particular:

    • Mechanical, chemical and physical stability
    • Particle size distribution
    • Viscosity
    Polymerisation

Tylose is a protective colloid in emulsion and suspension polymerisation.

It stabilises the emulsions/suspensions and prevents them from coalescence. In emulsion polymerisation (mainly vinyl acetate based) Tylose HEC partly co-polymerises with the monomers (grafting) which contributes to important properties of the latices. In suspension polymerisation Tylose influences the size and porosity of the particles.

    Personal Care

In Personal Care formulations Tylose® acts as a rheology modifier (thickener), stabiliser, binder and foam booster. It is highly compatible with other ingredients such as surfactants, emulsifiers, fragrances and preservers.
