Use of sustainably produced caustic soda pays off

Back in mid-2024, SE Tylose decided to switch to sustainably produced (i.e., using electricity from wind power) caustic soda.

We can now take stock: with the switch, we have been able to reduce the CO₂ footprint of the end product from 3.0 kg CO₂ eq per kilogram of methylcellulose to around 2.7 kg CO₂ eq/kg MC, thanks to the amount of lye (approx. 20%) in the total CO₂ emissions, which has now been reduced by 70%.

Thanks to this forward-looking decision by management, we are making a significant contribution to the sustainability goals of both the parent company and SE Tylose.
